iPhone and iPad: remove backgrounds from 3 photos a day. With each cutout you can keep the background transparent or choose a color, gradient or your own photo, add an outline, crop to sizes for social media and save a PNG up to 4096 px. The object eraser, the enhancer, templates, the graphic editor, Refine Edges, ×2 export and batch mode are part of PRO.

Mac: 3 free edits a day in Remove Background, Erase Objects and Enhance, with all backgrounds, canvas sizes, shadow and outline. Text recognition (⇧⌘8) is free and doesn’t count toward the limit. PRO adds Best eraser quality, ×4 and custom upscaling, the Natural and Sharp enhance models and batch processing.

Mac: at midnight in your Mac’s time zone. The sidebar shows how many edits are left today and, when they run out, how long until they reset.

iPhone and iPad: the counter on the main screen (for example, 2/3) shows how many free background removals you have left. The limit renews 24 hours after your first free removal.

An edit is used when Remove Background, Erase Objects or Enhance produces the first result for a new photo. Running a tool again on the same photo, switching models or undoing doesn’t use another edit.

Text recognition and capturing a screen area are free. After ⇧⌘2, though, Snip removes the background from the capture, and that result counts as an edit.

Yes. Snip is a single App Store app, so a PRO subscription works on all your devices with the same Apple Account. Install Snip on the other device and restore purchases if PRO doesn’t turn on by itself.

iPhone and iPad: tap the settings button (the sliders icon) at the top of the main screen, then tap Restore Purchases under Manage Subscriptions. On the upgrade screen, you can also tap Already paid?

Mac: open Settings (⌘,), go to the Snip Pro tab and click Restore Purchases. The same button is at the bottom of the upgrade screen.

Make sure you’re signed in to the App Store with the Apple Account you used to pay and that you’re online. If PRO still doesn’t turn on, write to snipfeedback@gmail.com.

Subscriptions are managed by Apple, and deleting the app doesn’t cancel them.

• iPhone or iPad: open the Settings app, tap your name, then Subscriptions, choose Snip and tap Cancel Subscription.
• Mac: in Snip, open Settings → Snip Pro and click Manage Subscription. Or open the App Store, click your name, then Account Settings and Manage next to Subscriptions.

Cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date to avoid being charged for the next period. PRO stays active until the end of the period you’ve paid for.

Yes. A lifetime purchase doesn’t cancel an existing subscription automatically, so cancel it in your Apple Account settings as described above. Snip for iPhone shows a reminder with a Manage Subscriptions button right after the purchase.

All payments go through Apple, so refunds are handled by Apple too. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple Account, choose “Request a refund” and select the Snip purchase.

No. On iPhone and iPad, background removal, the eraser and the enhancer run on our server, so they need an internet connection. If you see “Oops, something went wrong”, check your connection and try again.

If you need to work offline, Snip for Mac processes everything on the device.

Yes, on iPad with iPadOS 15.0 or later, with the same tools and the same subscription. On iPad, Snip uses the iPhone layout and runs full screen: Split View and Slide Over aren’t supported.

No, text recognition is only in Snip for Mac. On iPhone and iPad, use Live Text built into iOS: open the photo in the Photos app and touch and hold the text to select it.

Tap Save, and Snip saves a PNG to the Photos app. To send the image to Files or another app, use the Share button next to Save.

If you see “Snip doesn’t have access to your photo library”, open the Settings app, tap Apps → Snip → Photos and allow access.

Cutouts are saved at up to 4096 px on the longer side. With PRO, choose ×2 in the crop tool to save up to 8192 px. In batch mode, the limits are 2048 px and 4096 px with ×2. The enhancer produces images of about 4096 px.

No. There’s no sign-in. To count free background removals and check PRO, the app creates an anonymous account without your name or email. Details are in the privacy policy.

Yes. All AI models are included in the app, and processing happens on your Mac. You only need an internet connection to buy or restore PRO.

• ⇧⌘2 — Capture Screen Area: select part of the screen, and Snip removes the background from it.
• ⇧⌘7 — Select Image.
• ⇧⌘8 — Recognize Text: select part of the screen, and the text is copied to the clipboard.

The shortcuts work even when Snip is in the background. To change them or assign shortcuts to Erase Objects and Enhance Quality, open Settings → Shortcuts. A shortcut needs ⌘ or ⌃, for example ⌥⌘S.

Snip needs the Screen Recording permission to capture the area you select.

1. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen & System Audio Recording.
2. Find Snip in the list and turn on the switch.
3. Quit and reopen Snip: macOS applies the permission only after a restart.

If a shortcut does nothing, another app may be using it. Assign a different one in Settings → Shortcuts.

Snip uses Apple’s text recognition and detects the language automatically. It reads the languages macOS supports, including English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Ukrainian, Chinese, Japanese and Korean. The recognized text goes straight to the clipboard.

Snip opens PNG, JPEG, HEIC, HEIF, TIFF, GIF, BMP and WebP. Drag an image into the window, paste it with ⌘V or press ⇧⌘7. For batch processing, drop several photos or a whole folder.

Results can be exported as PNG, JPEG or HEIC. Choose PNG for cutouts: JPEG can’t keep a transparent background. Batch results can be saved to a folder or a ZIP archive.

Yes. Snip supports Macs with Apple silicon and Intel processors running macOS 15.6 or later.

Mac: open Settings → General → Language and choose one of 10 languages. Snip restarts to apply it.

iPhone and iPad: Snip follows the system language. To use a different one for Snip only, open the Settings app, tap Apps → Snip → Language.

iPhone and iPad: yes, for processing. Snip sends a compressed copy of the photo to our server and gets the result back; uploaded images aren’t stored after processing.

Mac: no. Every tool runs on your Mac, and your photos never leave it.
